    MPPSC State Services Examination is a three-stage examination process consisting of a preliminary examination, a main examination, and a personal interview. The preliminary examination consists of two papers: General Studies I and General Studies II (also known as the State Aptitude Test). The main examination consists of six papers: four papers of General Studies, one paper of General Hindi, and one paper of Essay Writing. The personal interview is the final stage of the examination process, where the candidate’s personality, general knowledge, and communication skills are assessed.

  3. Prelims: The MPPSC CSE Prelims exam is the first stage of the MPPSC State Services Examination. It is a screening test that is used to select candidates for the Main examination. The exam consists of two papers – General Studies I and General Studies II (also known as the State Aptitude Test).  Both papers are objective-type multiple choice questions (MCQs) based on the OMR sheet. The exam is conducted in both English and Hindi languages. Each paper has a maximum of 200 marks with no negative marking and the duration of each paper is two hours.

The marks obtained in the prelims exam are used solely for qualifying the Main examination, and are not considered for determining the order of merit.  However, their promotion to the Main examination is based on the merit of the score in Paper I: General Studies Candidates need to secure a minimum mark in Paper II: Aptitude to qualify which is:

    • 40% of the total marks for the candidates of UR Category &
    • 33% for the candidates of other categories.

    • Mains- The Mains examination is the most critical part of the MPPSC CSE and consists of six papers with a total weightage of 1400 marks and generally the number of candidates admitted to appear for the main exam is fifteen times more than the number of available vacancies. The MPPSC CSE Mains examination is a descriptive type test consisting of conventional essay type questions. The duration of each paper is three hours except the sixth paper (two hours) . The papers are as follows:

General Studies-I (Part A+B) 300 marks: The first paper of the MPPSC CSE Mains examination covers topics related to Indian & MP History, Indian Cultural Heritage (with special reference to Madhya Pradesh), Geography of World, India & MP, Water and disaster management and Advanced Techniques in Geography.

General Studies-II (Part A+B) 300 marks: The second paper of the MPPSC CSE Mains examination covers topics related to the Constitution, Governance, Political and Administrative Structure, Indian Political Thinkers & political concepts, Economics and sociology with reference to Madhya Pradesh, Human Resource Development & Population.

      5. General Studies-III (300 marks): The third paper of the MPPSC CSE Mains examination covers topics related to Science, Technology,  and Dimensions of Environment and Environmental Education.

      7. General Studies-IV (200 marks): The fourth paper of the MPPSC CSE Mains examination covers topics related to Philosophers/Thinkers, Social Reformers, Human Needs and Motivation, Ethics and Values in Public Administration, Corruption and Case Studies based on the contents of the syllabus.

  •  The MPPSC CSE interview is the final stage of the selection process for the MPPSC CSE exam. It is conducted for candidates who have successfully cleared the MPPSC CSE mains exam.

    The interview carries a weightage of 175 marks and it is designed to assess the personality traits, mental caliber, and aptitude of the candidate. The interview is conducted by a board of competent observers who evaluate the candidate’s overall personality, communication skills, decision-making abilities and judgment and suitability for the job.

    To prepare for the MPPSC CSE interview, candidates should be well-versed with the current affairs of Madhya Pradesh and India, have a good understanding of the MPPSC CSE syllabus, and practice their communication skills. Candidates should also be confident, positive, and mentally prepared for the interview. 

Final Merit List –

The final selection of candidates is based on the marks obtained in the mains exam and the interview. Total Marks- 1575 (1400 + 175)-

Age and attempt limit for candidates belonging to various categories:

The age limit for MPPSC State Service Exam is computed as of 1st January of the year for which the notification has been released. The Candidates of all the categories can give as many as attempts till they attain the maximum age, according to their category.
